Detroit's Project Green Light and the "New Jim Code"

Abstract
This article uses Ruha Benjamin's concept of the "New Jim Code," the racial bias embedded in the AI technology, to discuss the City of Detroit's "Project Green Light" surveillance system, which has misrecognized and wrongly identified people of color as persons of interest for crimes they did not commit.
